Collins Associates LLC acquires Salsbury & Associates Insurance Services, Inc.

 

Fremont, CA August 10, 2018 Collins & Associates a diversity & minority oriented private equity firm led by Cecil Collins announced today that it has acquired Salsbury & Associates Insurance Services Inc.

 

Located in Fremont, Salsbury & Associates Insurance Services Inc. led by Allen & Valerie Salsbury is a general independent insurance agency with a broad range of Commercial, Employee Benefits and Personal Lines products. With nearly 75 years of experience between them, Allen and Valerie are a power couple in the insurance industry.

 

Allen is a bay area native, graduating from Palo Alto Senior High (PALY), Foothill College, and San Jose State University. He served in the US Navy as a Combat Aircrewman, rescuing downed pilots off the coast of North Vietnam. During his multiple tours of duty, he was awarded the Silver Star and multiple other medals and citations. Allen has held Senior Management positions with large commercial agencies in the Bay Area. He works closely with businesses as a partner, identifying potential loss exposures, informing his clients and developing strategies to mitigate the risk. It has been his pleasure to serve his clients through out his career, some for over 30 years. In 2002, Allen became the President and CEO of Salsbury & Associates.

 

Valerie began her insurance career with Fireman’s Fund in Iowa and moved with them to the Bay Area. She has also held Senior Management positions with local agencies, directed commercial marketing departments, customer service departments, throughout her career she has overseen every step of the insurance marketing process. Valerie has obtained the coveted Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, CPCU designation, she often tutors and trains employees and claims staff on coverage. In 2002 Valerie became EVP Operations, and later became CFO of Salsbury & Associates.  

 

They are now at a place where they can pass the torch on to a new generation, as they have entrusted me with the business to grow it further and cement their legacy. I am honored and willing to accept the challenge set in front of me. Salsbury & Associates is a family company, and I am looking to keep a similar style moving forward as I seek to employ a new generation of agents with a passion for not only the insurance industry, but most importantly people. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and for the pleasure of getting to know Allen and Valerie throughout the years.
